Argentina’s mineral-rich San Juan province is preparing to make its debut bond sale in the international market, while oil company Vista Energy looks to retap the global bonds it issued in April and Chilean lender Banco BICE to return to the Swiss market for a second time.

San Juan, in western Argentina, began calling investors on Monday to pitch the sale of $600 million worth of nine-year notes, according to a securities filing.

JPMorgan and Santander are the bookrunners on the deal, it said.

The provincial government intends use the proceeds to fund public investments, infrastructure works and capital expenditures in education, healthcare, public security and social infrastructure, according to a prospectus.

In July, Governor Marcelo Orrego and two of his officials held their first meetings with investors to drum up interest for the bonds, joining a flurry of provinces to tap the cross-border market over the past year. These include Chubut, Córdoba, Entre Ríos and Neuquén.

BOND TAP

Meanwhile, Vista Energy, the third-largest oil producer in Argentina, plans to raise up to $400 million in a reopening of its international 7.875% 2038 bonds.

The Mexico City-based company began calling investors on Monday to pitch the add-on notes, according to a separate filing.

The company aims to start the bidding at $300 million and increase the deal based on demand, with Citi, Santander and Itaú BBA acting as bookrunners, according to the filing.

Vista said it will use the proceeds for working capital, financing investments and future acquisitions in Argentina.

The company initially issued $500 million worth of 2038s in April to buy assets in Vaca Muerta from Norway’s Equinor. It later announced plans in July to seek new acquisitions as part of its growth strategy.

SECOND SWISS SALE

For its part, Banco BICE, the seventh-largest bank in Chile by assets and market share, looks to price its second bond offering in the Swiss market. It will begin calling investors on September 28 to pitch a sale of Swiss franc-denominated notes, according to a source familiar with the deal.

The bank has appointed UBS, Commerzbank and Zürcher Kantonalbank as bookrunners on the offering, the person added.

Banco BICE would follow four other Chilean lenders that priced deals in Switzerland this year, including BancoEstado the local branches of Santander, Scotiabank and Itaú.

Banco BICE previously issued bonds in the Swiss market in October 2021 when it printed CHF110 million worth of five-year notes.
