Banks in the region have made enormous strides in detecting and managing credit risk in recent years. But many have yet to initiate modern programs for managing organizational risk, which enables companies to spot system flaws, minimizing fraud and mistakes by employees. The Bank for International Settlements has designed the Basel II framework, a guide for financial institutions with recommendations for minimizing risks and minimum capital requirements that governments in a number of countries are pushing banks to implement.
