Lula Top Of The Polls
With just days to go before Brazil’s run-off presidential elections, incumbent president – Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva – continues to lead from the front, according to several recent polls. O Globo TV/Datafolha poll revealed Wednesday that Lula retained a 21 percentage-point lead over his rival, Gerardo Alckmin, drawing in 58% support against 37%. Meantime, polling institute Vox Populi Thursday gave Lula 57% of the vote versus 37% for the former São Paulo governor. And Belo Horizonte-based Sensus Institute also gave Lula the nod with 57.5% against his rival’s 33.5%, Thursday. The second round of voting takes place on Sunday, October 29.
