Deutsche Bank Beefs Up Debt Team
Deutsche Bank is fortifying its LatAm debt team in New York with the hires of Santiago Bausili from JPMorgan and Carlos Mendoza from Merrill Lynch. Mendoza, who left the same team at Deutsche in the third quarter of 2005, will be responsible for coverage of Mexico on the capital markets side. Bausili will take on derivatives and capital markets responsibilities in Argentina, Chile and Peru.
JPMorgan has suffered a number of DCM defections in recent weeks. Besides losing LatAm veteran Brian O’Neill to the corporate sector, the shop recently saw Alejandro Lew jump ship, to HSBC in Buenos Aires. Ricardo Debedout also recently departed.
In other moves, Merrill Lynch has named Sonia Dula head of Latin American Investment Banking, to be based in New York. And Cristiana Ferraz is moving to Lehman Brothers in São Paulo from ABN AMRO, where she was responsible for LatAm financial restructuring and recovery.
