Brazil Investment Swells to Record
Investments in Brazilian securities should reach a historical high in 2007, according to Credit Suisse, which forecasts $17.8bn in stock investments, up from $7.7bn last year, and $12bn in fixed income bonds, versus $7.0bn in 2006. Through August, total investment in stocks and bonds reached $14.0bn and $9.3bn respectively, though CS analysts expect that pace to cool as international liquidity enters a more restrictive period. Brazilian FDI is also expected to reach an all-time high this year, with projections of $33bn for 2007, topping the $32.8bn seen in 2000.
