French Firm Gets Uruguay Power Deal

French power generator and transmitter Areva has been awarded a $150m contract by Interconexiones del Sur to build a link between Uruguay and Brazil. The interconnection in Melo, Uruguay, will allow exchange between the two grids, which have different frequencies. Areva expects to have the project online in 2010.
