The LF 100 outperformed the S&P 500 and the Nikkei index during the first half of 1999. The LF100 gained 34.12% whereas the S&P 500 and the Nikkei increased 11.67% and 26.64%, respectively. The best performer in the LF100 is Banamex Accival up 26.43% during the month of June. Banamex also performed well during the first six months of 1999 with a 113% jump.

In June, other top performers included Soriana Organizacion, which posted an increase of 24.14%, followed by Kimberly Clark with a 24.07% gain. For the first six months of 1999, Entel was the best performing stock with a 116.9% surge. Cemex comes in third with a 106% upswing.

Though the Latin equity markets are on a rebound, some companies did see their share prices decrease. Embotelladora Latinoamerica fell 32.87% during the month of June, followed by Bavaria which dropped 26.08%. For the first half of the year the worst performers in the LF100 were Banco Wiese and Commercial del Plata which fell 49.5% and 45.5% respectively.
