When it comes to issuing bonds in emerging market, some analysts say 2022 was as bad as it gets. Issuers had to postpone international bond sales as rising interest rates made it too expensive and depressed investors’ appetite for much risk at all. If it takes too long to bring down rates, at least a few companies may run into financial problems if they can’t borrow from banks, restructure their debts or afford the high rates in the bond market.
