Embraer Keeps Things Moving
Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer has announced several management changes as part of its “organizational adjustments” and associated with the company’s ongoing CEO succession process. James Bruce Peddle replaces Mark Hale as vice-president of marketing and sales for the US, Canada and Caribbean, as of 1 May. Until then, Charles William (Bill) Parks, regional sales director, will be in charge. Orlando Jose Ferreira Neto replaces Bruce Peddle as managing director of Embraer Asia and Pacific, from 2 April. Mark Paul Hale has been appointed managing director and chief operating officer of Nashville-based subsidiary Embraer Aircraft Maintenance Services (EAMS). Last year, Embraer tapped 45 year-old Frederico Fleury Curado to succeed president and chief executive Maurício Botelho who is set to step down in April.

BBVA Reorganization Means New Head For Bancomer
BBVA Bancomer, the Mexican unit of Spanish banking giant BBVA, is to have a new chief executive after BBVA appointed current CEO Jaime Guardiola as head of a newly formed division: BBVA Spain and Portugal. His replacement at Bancomer will be Ignacio Deschamps, currently in charge of Bancomer’s commercial banking business. The reorganization of the Group also sees a new global division to be headed up by José Barreiro.

Jagdeo Triumphs In Guyana Elections
Bharrat Jagdeo, of the ruling People’s Progressive Party (PPP), has been elected for a third consecutive term as president of Guyana. With 99.3% of votes counted, the ruling PPP had earned 55% of the vote, followed by Robert Corbin of the People’s National Congress (PNC) with 34%. The Alliance For Change (AFC) party, which stood on a platform of racial unity, managed to gain 8% of voter support. The PPP, which is seen to represent the majority Indo-Guyanese population, has held power in Guyana since 1992. Jagdeo, a 43-year old Russian-educated economist, is regarded as a pragmatist who believes in free trade and foreign investment.
