LATIN AMERICAN BANKING LEADERSHIP COUNCIL
October 21, 2007
The Willard InterContinental
Washington
 D.C.

Background

In March 1999, LatinFinance launched the Latin American Banking Leadership Council during the Inter-American Development Bank annual meeting in Paris. Honorary Members gathered with Chairmen and Presidents from 15 financial institutions including BCP, Banco Mercantil, BLADEX, Banco Itau, and Banco Agricola.  Based on the success of this meeting the participants agreed to gather on a semiannual basis to continue discussions. Since inception, Membership has grown to over 40 Members.

Designed to enable senior executives from Latin America’s leading banks to meet with their peers to discuss and debate the key issues impacting the financial services industry, the Latin American Banking Leadership Council is a private organization with a membership drawn from the most influential local financial institutions in the region. To this date, no other exclusive organization like the Leadership Council exists, offering senior bankers an opportunity to come together on neutral ground and openly discuss new advances and key concerns.

Membership

Membership is restricted to Chairmen, Presidents and CEOs of local banks in Latin America. Since inception in 1999, the Latin American Banking Leadership Council has grown to 40 Members drawn from every country in the region. Membership is strictly by invitation only.

Founding Members include, for example: Roberto Setubal, Banco Itaú; Robert W. Chandler, Sanchez-Devanny Eseverri; Enrique García, CAF; Jaime Rivera, BLADEX, Jorge Londoño, Bancolombia; Gustavo Marturet, Banco Mercantil; Raimundo Morales, Banco de Crédito del Perú; and Ronald Harford, Republic Bank Limited.
